Schools In Ste. Genevieve Will Be Closed March 18 To April 6

Public and private schools in Ste. Genevieve County will join those in Jefferson County and the St. Louis area in closing from Wednesday, March 18, and reopening no sooner than Monday, April 6 help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The situation will be evaluated in early April to determine whether schools will reopen on that date.

Local school officials have been working with the Ste. Genevieve County Health Department and school and health officials throughout the St. Louis region in reaching a unified decision.

All the schools of the Mineral Area Athletic Association will be closed during that period, as will schools in Jefferson County, St. Louis County, the city of St. Louis and St. Charles County. The Archdiocese of St. Louis, which includes Catholic schools in Ste. Genevieve County, also is participating.

Officials are working out details in an effort to provide free meals to students who qualify.
