Appointments Can Be Made For R-II School District Kindergarten Registration, Screening Beginning March 2

Kindergarten registration will take place at Bloomsdale Elementary and Ste. Genevieve Elementary schools in late March.

Parents may contact the elementary offices beginning Monday, March 2, to schedule appointments.

Those who cannot attend during the times listed below should call the school to make other arrangements.

Bloomsdale Elementary: Saturday, March 28, starting at 8 a.m. (by appointment only). Call 573-883-4500 extension 4 to schedule an appointment.

Ste. Genevieve Elementary: Saturday, April 4, starting at 8 a.m. (by appointment only). Call 573-883-4500 extension 3 to schedule an appointment.

To be admitted to kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year, a child must turn 5 years old prior to August 1, 2020. Items needed to complete registration and attend classes for the 2020-21 school year include:

  • child’s official birth certificate;
  • child’s updated immunization records;
  • child’s Social Security number;
  • proof of residency;
  • physical (physical forms are provided at registration and need to be returned to the elementary office before the first day of school).

Each child will be given speech, hearing, dental, and vision screenings, along with the Developmental Inventory Assessment of Learning (DIAL 4) including motor, language, concepts, self-help, and social emotional skills.

Parents will receive information regarding their child’s screening results the same day.

Parents should:

  • allow up to two hours for the developmental screening process;
  • dress children in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes for the event;
  • make childcare arrangements for any siblings.

Those who cannot attend during the times listed above should call the school to make other arrangements. This will assist the schools in making personnel and budget decisions.

Free developmental screenings are also available throughout the year for children 3 months to 5 years through the Parents As Teachers Program. This will be an opportunity to learn more about how a child is meeting developmental milestones and ways to improve a child’s potential for learning. Call 573-883-4500 extension 2424 to schedule an appointment.
