Blood Drives

VALLE SCHOOL GYM

A blood drive will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 28, at the Valle Catholic School Gym. Those who donate will get a voucher for a free t-shirt. JOUR DE FETE

The Jour de Fete Committee will make up its monthly meeting (canceled due to the weather earlier this month) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, at Cafe Genevieve.

DEMOCRATIC CLUB

The Ste. Genevieve County Democratic Club will have its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 19, at the Steelworkers Union Hall (950 S. Gabouri St.). A brief business meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a guest speaker at 7 p.m. The guest speaker for February will be Kathy Ellis, candidate for Congress in Missouri’s Eighth Congressional District. A food drive will take place to support a local food pantries. All are welcome. Contact stegendemclub@gmail.con for more information.

SOILS AND CROPS

“Biology and Control of Select Invasive and Noxious Weeds in Missouri” will be featured at the University of Missouri Extension’s 90th annual Soils and Crops Conference on Thursday evening, February 20, at the VFW Hall on Veterans Drive in Ste. Genevieve. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.  Missouri Century Farms and Soil and Water Cooperator of the Year will be awarded beginning at 6 p.m. Invasive and noxious weeds on public and private lands pose risks to livestock and native animals, threaten biodiversity and native plant species, damage land and natural resources, and cause economic hardship for farmers, ranchers, and municipalities. The presentation will cover identification of state listed noxious weeds and upcoming invasive weeds with information on control methods for each species. The topic will be presented by Gatlin Bunton, field apecialist in agronomy for the University of Missouri Extension. Those attending the conference will enjoy a dinner sponsored by area businesses and prepared by the Ste. Genevieve VFW Hall. FOURTH FRIDAY ART WALK

The first Fourth Friday Art Walk of 2020 will take place this month, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, February 28, at galleries and art spaces in downtown Ste. Genevieve.

WOMEN’S HEALTH FAIR

Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) will host its 21st annual Women’s Health Fair at the hospital on Saturday, February 29 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event — this year entitled Leap into Health with 2020 Vision — is free and open to the public. It will include activities and information for women of all ages. In addition to various presentations, the fair will have many vendor booths that include skin and facial professionals, hair stylists, massage therapists, home decor, do-it-yourself experts, and many community businesses and organizations.
