Job Listings Posted For City Administrator, Director Of Tourism Vacancies

Ste. Genevieve city administrator Martin Toma announced during last Thursday’s Board of Aldermen meeting that advertisements for his position and for the vacant director of tourism position have both been posted.

Toma, who announced his impending retirement in December, said both positions are listed on linkedin.com and indeed.com. Additionally, the tourism position has also been posted with the Missouri Division of Tourism and the Missouri Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus.

The tourism job description, as advertised, lists duties that include supporting the Tourism Advisory Council and Tourism Tax Commission “in the formation of a marketing plan,” managing the visitstegen.com website, running the Welcome Center, and serving as a liaison between local groups and committees.

Applicants should have “a bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of marketing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.”

The city administrator advertisement, meanwhile, has been posted with the Missouri Municipal League and the Missouri City  Managers Association as well as linkedin.com and indeed.com, Toma reported.

Linkedin and indeed.com are the only places that charge for the ads, he said. …

Ward 3 Alderman Jimmie Jones pointed out that no residency requirement was mentioned in the city administrator ad.

A discussion followed on whether the requirement — not always strictly enforced — should be dropped for city employees.

“I’d sure like this board to consider changing that [from being a requirement],” Mayor Paul Hassler said.
