Red Kettle Campaign Raises More Than $9,500
Beginning the Monday before Thanksgiving, the annual Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign, spearheaded by the local Ste. Genevieve Elks Lodge, kicked off at Rozier’s Country Mart in Ste. Genevieve.
Each day from Monday, November 25, until Christmas Eve, bell ringers [volunteers from the Elks Lodge] could be heard from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A total of $9,556 was donated by Rozier’s Country Mart shoppers.
Eighty-five percent of the funds collected — or $8,122 — remains in Ste. Genevieve County for various organizations to assist with area needs. The remaining 15 percent is retained by the Salvation Army in St. Louis for their use.
