Two Crashes In County Last Week Result In Multiple Serious Injuries

Two accidents were reported last week in Ste. Genevieve County by the Missouri State Highway Patrol with both resulting in multiple people receiving serious injuries.

— The first took place on Tuesday, December 31, and involved four county residents.

The single-vehicle accident took place around 11:19 a.m. on Route Y just west of Saddleback Trail Road.

Laura M. Farris, 31, of Ste. Genevieve was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer eastbound when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle skidded across the roadway and off the left side of the road. The vehicle overturned down an embankment.

The driver and three juvenile passengers all received serious injuries.

Farris was transported to SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital by Air Evac.

A 9-year-old male was transported to St. Louis Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital by Air Evac.

A 7-year-old male was transported to St. Louis Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital by Survival Flight.

A 5-year-old female was transported to St. Louis Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital by Arch helicopter.

None of the four was wearing a safety device, according to the report.

— The second accident took place at around 1:14 p.m. on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1.

It involved two vehicles and took place on Highway 32 near Dorlac Road.

A 2007 Ford Taurus being driven by Ethan A. Nevins, 29, of Lake St. Louis, attempted to make a left turn from Highway 32 onto Dorlac Road and crossed into the path of an eastbound 2016 Dodge Charger being driven by Jennifer A. McGuire, 36, of Benton, Illinois.

The front of the Dodge Charger struck the right side of the Ford Taurus.

Two people were injured in the Dodge Charger.

Passenger Lindsay A. McGuire, 29, of Benton, Illinois, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Parkland Hospital in Farmington by the Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance District.

Jennifer McGuire suffered minor injuries and was taken to Parkland Hospital in Farmington by the Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance District.

A passenger in the Ford Taurus, Julia M. Nevins, 28, of Lake St. Louis, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Parkland Hospital in Farmington by the Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance District.

Ethan Nevins and Julia Nevins were wearing seat belts, according to the report, while Jennifer McGuire and Lindsay McGuire were not.
