Donald L. ‘Stringer’ Straughn
Donald L. “Don” “Stringer” Straughn of Ste. Genevieve died on Friday, January 3, 2020. He was 83 years old.
He was born on Friday, May 8, 1936, in Bonne Terre.
He is survived by good friends Dick Hutson, Pete Papin, Jeremy Crocker, Don Karl and Scott Hutson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelton J. and Crystal M. (Turley) Straughn; his wife, Shirley J. (Maurice) Straughn; and two brothers, Roy G. Straughn and Richard L. Straughn.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1037, NRA, Irma Joggerst Hunting Club and a charter member of Ste. Genevieve Elks Lodge No. 2674. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting deer and squirrel.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Valle Spring Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve. C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
