Race Shaping Up For SGCMH Board In Early Filings For April
There will be a contested race in April for a seat on the Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital board, based on filings in the first week for the 2020 Municipal Election.
Kevin Schaaf and Cynthia Glassey both filed for the five-year term on the board in a seat currently held by Nicholas Wehner.
Only one other candidate had filed for any of the county board positions — Kenneth Wolk, seeking re-election on Public Water Supply District No. 1, Sub-District 5.
Two incumbents filed in the city of St. Mary — Stacia Placke, who was appointed as city collector earlier this year, and Mayor Gloria Bader. Placke will be running for a one-year term; Bader for two years.
St. Mary also has two-year terms on the ballot in Ward 1 (held by Brian Helms) and Ward 2 (held by Carl Otte), and a one-year term for Ward 1 (now held by Clyde Cassoutt after he replaced Jennifer Weiss.)
In the city of Ste. Genevieve, Ward 2 Alderman Bob Donovan and Ward 4 Alderman Joe Prince both filed for re-election.
Gary Smith (Ward 1) and Jimmie Jones (Ward 3) also are up for election. All are two-year terms.
Two seats are up for election in Bloomsdale: Ward 1, held by John Schweigert; and Ward 2, held by Chris Basler. They are two-year terms.
The Public Water Supply District has another seat up for election, the Sub-District 1 seat held by Ralph Pike. The seats have three-year terms.
The Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance District has two seats up for election, Sub-District 2 currently held by Dennis Jokerst, and Sub-District 5 currently held by Michael “Buck” Jokerst. Terms are three years.
The Special Road District A seat up for election this year is the one held by Paul Arnold. The term is for three years.
Three Ste. Genevieve R-II School District Board of Education seats are up for election. They are held by Martha Resinger, Eric Basler and James Kirchner. All three have filed for re-election.
The terms are for three years.
