U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Moves Toward Designating Area Part Of Wildlife Sanctuary
Action is beginning to take place on the plans by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to make a piece of land between the Urban Design Levee and the Mississippi River part of its Upper Mississippi Wildlife Sanctuary.
At the December 9 Levee District 3 board meeting, board president Vern Bauman said USFWS personnel will drop off pipes — about 30 feet long and ranging from 30 inches to 48 inches wide — later this month.
USFWS will install the pipes.
