Special Road District A Board Looks At Paving Priorities For 2020
In their final meeting of 2019, Special Road District A board members and road foreman Paul Bauman looked at possible overlaying priorities for 2020.
Chairman Paul Arnold in November had suggested that the board and Bauman drive around sometime in January and examine roads to determine their priorities.
Board members tossed out a few ideas at the December 10 meeting for consideration.
A section on Eisenbris Bottom Road “will need some help,” in Bauman’s words. A section of Bourbon Road, a portion of Gisi Road near Route M, spots on Industrial River Road and the end of Quarry Hills Road could all stand overlays, “depending on what the budget’s like,” Bauman said.
“We can start early next year and go through and Duropatch, depending on how hard a winter we have,” he said.
“You can’t hardly prioritize it by how long it’s been [since a road was paved],” Arnold said, “because some get traveled worse than others.”
Bourbon Road was paved in 2004 and “has never been touched” since, Bauman said. Gisi Road, which had a chip and seal before, also was overlayed with asphalt about the same year, he said.
