Faye Oldham
Faye “Babe” Oldham died on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis County. She was 80 years old.
She was born on February 14, 1939, in Crystal City, a daughter of Wendell and Sadie (Brown) Skaggs.
She was married to John “Buddie” Oldham on February 15, 1958.
She is survived by three children, John Rhett Oldham and his wife Shelley, Klint Patrick Oldham and his wife Joan, Andrea Roechele Gosling and her husband Darren; five grandchildren, John Spencer Oldham, Abigail Rose (Oldham) Little, Garrison Michael Gosling, Truman Joseph Gosling, Corinne Roechele Gosling; three brothers, Lionel Skaggs, Wayne Skaggs, John Skaggs; one sister, Trula Skaggs; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was the youngest of five children. After the death of her mother in 1943, she was raised by Cecil and Lola Womack in Herculaneum until she married. She loved the little town of Herky.
She was a faithful and loving wife and the love of her husband’s life. She was a devoted and loving mother and also a wonderful and loving grandmother. She taught her children and grandchildren the Bible and the importance of faith and to love and serve the Lord.
She worked as a secretary and model for Witte Photography in her early years. She then became a homemaker.
She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and taught many children the love of Jesus Christ. She was loving and encouraging to cousins, friends and family; and she was a faithful servant to the Lord. She was a charter member of New Testament Baptist Church and was always a very active member in her church. In her later years, she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pevely.
Funeral services were scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pevely. Pastor Bryan Roberts was to officiate. Burial was to be at Presbyterian/Methodist Cemetery in Festus. Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus was handling the arrangements.
