Letter: Valle Catholic Schools Appreciative Of R-II School District’s Hospitality For Football Semifinal

To the Editor:

On behalf of the entire Valle Catholic Schools community, I wish to extend our deepest appreciation and gratitude to Ste. Genevieve R-II School District for their hospitality and assistance in hosting Saturday’s state semifinal playoff football game. The condition of Father John Dempsey Field was unplayable after the days of precipitation our area received, and the offer to allow Valle Catholic the use of Dragon Stadium was a great relief.

We are very grateful to Dr. Julie Flieg and her administrative team and staff who were so gracious in every stage of planning and preparation for Saturday’s game. We would like to thank, specifically, Mr. Jay Pope, for his presence as the Ste. Genevieve school representative both Friday and Saturday. Thank you for giving your time on Thanksgiving weekend to help out a neighbor.

The spirit of cooperation displayed this week demonstrates a rather wonderful and fundamental truth about our community: in the end, we are all in this together. Beyond our healthy rivalry, beyond who is “blue” and who is “green,” there exists a strong unity rooted in our common desire to be genuinely kind and generous neighbors who put the good of our children above all else.

As a relative newcomer to this area, I can say this weekend reminded me, once again, how blessed we all are to call Ste. Genevieve our home.

Rev. Edward Nemeth

President, Valle Catholic Schools
