2019 Holiday Christmas Festival Schedule

Saturday, December 7

10 a.m.

— French croquignoles, free while they last, in the courtyard of the  Shaw House, Merchant and Second streets.

11 a.m.

— Christmas Parade, downtown Ste. Genevieve.

Noon

— Lions Park Spectacular — Pictures with Santa Claus, shuttle rides around downtown every 15 minutes. Hot chocolate, hot dogs, and chili. Kids under 12 eat free when accompanied by an adult. Vernon Flieg performs traditional country, rock and Christmas tunes. Lions Park on Market Street

— Christmas Crafts for Children by Diane Wilson at the Orris, 265 Merchant St. Ends at 2 p.m.

1 to 1:45 p.m.

— Southeast Chamber Choir concert performed by Southeast Missouri State University choir directed by Dr. Barbara LaMont, featuring Renaissance period pieces up to contemporary holiday selections at the Church of Ste. Genevieve, 49 DuBourg Place.

— Southeast Missouri String Quartet concert, performed by accredited directors, teachers and symphony performers, at the Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 Market St., featuring Baroque, Classical and Romantic period Austro-German music.

— The Isaac Lausell Trio, modern jazz with standards in Latin music featuring award-winning Dr. Isaac Lausell from Southern Illinois University School of Music in Carbondale, professor Jimmy Beers and Dr. Richard Kelly, at the First Presbyterian Church, 160 S. Main St.

— Authentic French Cafe music, jazz, soul, blues and Christmas tunes performed by Adele Martin and Bluesette at the Welcome Center, 66 S. Main St.

2 to 2:45 p.m.

— Repeat of above concerts: Southeast Chamber Choir, Southeast Missouri String Quartet, Isaac Lausell Trio, and Adele Martin and Bluesette.

— Free demonstration on the art of paper filigree and create your own holiday craft at the Shaw House, Second and Merchant Street. One demonstration only.

2 to 6 p.m.

— Le Reveillon, a French Christmas at the Felix Valle Historic Site, 198 Merchant St., celebrating music, food, customs, and decorations of an early 1800s Christmas. Historic dulcimer music performed by Rick Thum.

3 to 3:45 p.m.

— Pipe organ concert, Kantorei choral ensemble, and Joyful Sound Ringers directed by Matt Palisch, professor of organ for Southeast Missouri State University and director of music for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jackson, Missouri, featuring an Annual Festival of Lessons and Carols and traditional Christmas tunes, at the Church of Ste. Genevieve, 49 DuBourg Place. (Ends at 4 p.m., one concert only.)

— Saxophone solo performance by Gerry Huggins, featuring contemporary, smooth jazz, and holiday music at the Welcome Center, 66 S. Main St.

— Acoustic guitar concert performed by Stormy Bennett, specializing in thumb rhythm and melody, at the Orris, 265 Merchant Street.

4 to 4:45 p.m.

— Repeat of acoustic guitar and saxophone concerts.

— Historical lecture by Bob Mueller on the 18th century French Ste. Genevieve Christmas and 19th century German Christmas at the Shaw House, Second and Merchant streets. (One lecture only.)

4 to 6 p.m.

— Guibourd House reception at Fourth and Merchant streets featuring hors d’oeuvres and display of Colonial Christmas decorations. Baroque period solo violin performance by Megan Heithaus.

— Ste. Genevieve Art Guild reception with music performed by Academy Hill, at the historic Museum building, 310 Merchant St. on Courthouse Square

6 p.m.

— Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, at the Welcome Center, 66 S. Main St., featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus. Performances by Les Chanteurs Francais with Bill and Patti Naeger, and the SGHS Madrigal Choir. Hosted by Gary Scheel.

— Live Bethlehem Nativity Scene, First Presbyterian Church, 160 S. Main St. Christmas carols will be sung inside the church.

— Lynn, Jack, and Jen Trio performing pop standards from the 1930s to the 1970s, with a little country and Broadway at Audubon’s Grill and Bar, 9 N. Main St.

Sunday, December 8

12:30 to 1:15 p.m.

— Violin solo performance by Megan Heithaus, featuring Impressionistic period music, at the Welcome Center, 66 S. Main St.

— Classical guitar concert performed by renowned artist Dr. Isacc Lausell, DMA, SIU School of Music, Carbondale, featuring 500 years of French, Italian, Spanish, and American music at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 200 Market St.

1:30 to 2:15 p.m.

— Repeat of the violin and classical guitar concerts.

3 p.m.

— Harp solo performance featuring classical, ethereal, classic rock, jazz and Christmas music at the Church of Ste. Genevieve, 49 DuBourg Place.

4 p.m.

— Ste. Genevieve Municipal Band Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Church of Ste. Genevieve, 49 DuBourg Place.

Saturday and Sunday

10 a.m.

— Read Me A Story: Children pick out a story from Friends Of The Ste. Genevieve County Library. Two locations: The Show Me Shop, 10 S. Main St., and the Anvil, 46 Third St. Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday noon to 3 p.m.

— Ste. Genevieve Art Guild Show will be open at the historic “Museum” building, 310 Merchant St. on Courthouse Square.
