Bova Will Work With Resident On Removing Collapsing Garage
Ste. Genevieve aldermen and community development administrator David Bova agreed to work with Joan Mobley in removing a collapsing garage behind her house at 777 Jefferson Street.
A public hearing took place during the Board of Aldermen’s regular meeting last Thursday night, to determine whether the property constituted a nuisance.
“This property was brought to the city’s attention about February,” Bova said. “We talked with the owner, Mrs. Mobley, and she agreed to work on it. But, through different factors, she was not able to get the work accomplished. After six months we began the formal process.”
A letter was sent to Mobley and other owners of the property in July, giving them 90 days to abate the property.
That period expired October 26.
Bova read the nuisance ordinance and said that the detached garage “with severely collapsed roof fits the definition.”
