Two Accidents On I-55 Result In Injuries

Two single-vehicle accidents last week on Interstate 55 in Ste. Genevieve County resulted in injuries for two Missourians, according to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

— On November 3, Scott J. Ballard, 29, of St. Louis suffered serious injuries when she lost control of her 2005 Chevrolet Silverado on northbound I-55.

The accident took place around 2:03 p.m. near mile marker 147.

Ballard was driving northbound when she lost control of his truck, which traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Ballard was taken by Survival Flight to SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital.

She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

— On November 6, Shawn D. Maher, 27, of Florissant suffered moderate injuries in an accident near mile marker 151.8 of northbound Interstate 55. The accident took place around 12:43 a.m.

Maher was driving a 2001 Ford Focus northbound when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, then returned to the roadway and overturned.

Maher was taken to Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital by the Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance District.

The report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol had conflicting information about whether he was wearing a seat belt.
