Sophia A. Grass

Sophia A. Grass of Ste. Genevieve died on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at her home. She was 76 years old.

She was born October 3, 1943 in St. Louis.

She was married to Leon F. Grass on August 24, 1963, and he survives in Ste. Genevieve.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Randy Grass and his wife Cindy of Wildwood, Missouri, Corey Grass and his wife Clarissa of Naples, Florida; two sisters, Cletis Witte of Kirkwood, Joyce Carron of Zell; one brother, Werner Carron and his wife Sue of Lawrenceton; seven grandchildren, Meghan Grass, Samuel Grass, Camilla Grass, Kent Grass, Cole Grass, Clayton Grass, Benjamin Batzer and his wife Megan

She was preceded in death by her father, Cletus Naeger; stepfather, Alvin Carron; mother, Florence (Werner) Carron; and daughter, Tina Batzer

She worked as a nurse for 32 years at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

She participated in church stewardships and was a parishioner of St. Agnes Church in Bloomsdale. She was a seamstress and quilter, enjoyed listening to music, playing the accordion and piano, gardening, traveling and bird watching especially martins, bluebirds and cardinals. But most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Visitation will be 8 to 10 a.m. on Friday, November 15, at Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 15, at St. Agnes Church in Bloomsdale.  Rev. Michael Benz and Deacon Jim Basler will officiate. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Bloomsdale. Basler Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Memorials can be made to St. Agnes School or Masses.
