SGHS Hosts Third Annual Workshop For Speech, Debate

 The Ste Genevieve High School competitive speech and debate team hosted its third annual Debate Workshop on October 7 at Ste. Genevieve High School.

Students and coaches from nine different school districts attended and learned more about how to succeed in competitive high school debate.

T.J. Lakin, professor at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, and Heather Walters and Kristen Stout, professors at Missouri State University in Springfield, attended to assist in the workshop sessions.

Sessions included advanced argumentation and logical fallacies for experienced debate students and tips on writing cases and researching topics for beginning students.

Ste. Genevieve High School head coach Christia Turner and assistant coach Bre Uzzell are looking forward to this competitive season.
