Little Tykes Playground Will Be Placed At Pinkley Park

Dave Pinkley Memorial Park will be the location of the Little Tykes playground set the Ste. Genevieve Parks and Recreation board is receiving.

The board decided at its October 23 meeting to install the set in park named in honor of the late Pinkley, former field operations supervisor, rather than at the larger Pere Marquette Park.

Park board vice chair Lauren Smothers, who has been pursuing a plan for embellishing the Pere Marquette playground, said she has loftier goals for that area.

Board member Gerry Schwent asked if  the newly acquired set should be set up in Pere Maquette and some of the existing equipment moved to Pinkley.

“I still have a dream of planning a brand new modern playground for this [Pere Marquette] area,” Smothers said.

Field operations supervisor Gary Roth agreed that Pinkley Park, located on LaHaye Street, would be ideal due to its level ground.
