Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital Program Helps Gets Kids Ready To Return To School

The Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) 2019 Back to School program on August 1 at the DuBourg Centre attracted more than 100 children and parents.

Organizers called it a success.

“It is a great way to help the students in the community get ready for school,” said Tina Poston, marketing director for SGCMH. “Students were excited about receiving backpacks and supplies for the upcoming school year.”

After collecting school supplies, everyone enjoyed a nice lunch sponsored by WellCare and SGCMH, along with other activities.

The hospital conducted height and weight checks and offered families a chance to win tickets to the newly opened River Rapids Waterpark at the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center. The Rotary Club of Ste. Genevieve sponsored the ticket giveaway.

The students and their parents were also greeted by other community organizations and businesses with resources for back to school including Community Counseling Center, Parents as Teachers, Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Home State Health and the Ste. Genevieve Sheriff’s Office. The Ste. Genevieve County Health Department checked student’s immunization records.

The DuBourg Centre also was a sponsor for the event.

The 2020 event is scheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2020.
