Rose Mary Schweiss of Ste. Genevieve died on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis. She was 86 years old.
She was born August 9, 1933 in Ozora, a daughter of Louis W. Roth and Genevieve (Jokerst) Roth.
She was married to Elmer J. Schweiss on November 29, 1952, and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by seven sons, Kenneth Schweiss and his wife Jan of Maryland Heights, Steven Schweiss of St. Louis, Joseph Schweiss of St. Charles, David Schweiss of Ste. Genevieve, John Schweiss and his wife Sue of Ste. Genevieve, Mark Schweiss and his wife Laura of Ste. Genevieve, Matthew Schweiss and his wife Nancy of Ste. Genevieve; three daughters, Mary Naeger and her husband John of St. Louis, Gerilyn Zerwig and her husband Bill of Ste. Genevieve, Denise Casey and her husband Gary of Festus; one brother, Valentine “Tom” Roth and his wife Deloris of Ozora; 22 grandchildren, Tom, Katie, Nick, Aaron, James, Christina, Andrew, Amanda, Gabrielle, Christopher, Mariah, Tyler, Jessica, Ella, Ethan, Aiden, Brady, Crosby, Tyler, Zander, Evan, Hailey; and eight great-grandchildren, Ruth, Genevieve, Leo, Soraya, Gavin, Ava, Olivia and Nora.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven sisters, Ester Breig, Irene Joggerst, Hilda Haertling, Willamena Bates, Lorena Rose, Genevieve Stump, Amelia Hurst; and one brother, Rudolph “Rudy” Roth.
She was a member of Church of Ste. Genevieve. She loved her dogs, gardening, bird watching and an occasional glass of wine. Most of all, she loved her family.
Visitation will be at 9 to 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, at Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. Rev. Edward Nemeth will officiate. Burial will be at Valle Spring Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve. Basler Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
