Kaskaskia Ready For Annual Picnic On September 1

The road to Kaskaskia, Illinois, has not always been open this year due to flooding, but the annual Immaculate Conception Parish Picnic will take place this Sunday, September 1.

Emily Lyons reported this weekend that the roads are clear, but there has been damage to the grounds from the spring floods. She said there was water damage to the rectory.

The event will include “all the usual great picnic attractions,” such as bingo from 1 to 4 p.m., a raffle drawing at 6 p.m.; skills games for children; food and drinks; Kaskaskia t-shirts; and a country store.

There will be exhibits in the church, and an exhibit of World War II items from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Kaskaskia’s picnic also is the only one in the coverage area to feature a truck and tractor pull.
