Special Road District A Meeting Delayed One Day Due To Road Damage From Storms
Road foreman Paul Bauman reported on storm damage to roads on August 14, after the Special Road District A meeting had been delayed 24 hours due to storms early in the morning of August 13.
Bauman said a number of roads were impacted — especially north of Highway 32 — including Quarrytown Road, Joggerst Road, Lime Kiln Road and Molasses Hollow Road, among others.
During his regular foreman’s report, Bauman said his crews have been mowing when not repairing roads.
He said they should be doing some patching, borrowing the county’s Duropatcher. He expected it to be done by the end of the week.
“It would be nice to do some overlaying this fall,” board chairman Paul Arnold said.
Bauman agreed and said Industrial River Road has some bad spots.
Bauman also said he had taken more than 30 photos of earlier flood damage to turn in to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for possible compensation.
Arnold said a FEMA representative would be in the county the next day to inspect areas of damage.
Bauman said he had the necessary paperwork together. It was agreed that about $25,000 of damage could be claimed.
