Library’s Summer Reading Program Concludes With August 24 Event
The Ste. Genevieve County Library will conclude its 2019 Summer Reading program on Saturday, August 24, with activities for the whole family.
“I’m really excited to conclude this because as participants have been turning in their reading logs, we have been cataloging their hours,” library director Shawn Long said. “Once this program ends, we will know how many hours were read throughout the summer.”
A Saturday story time at 10 a.m. is open to everyone and features Mo Willems’ well-known Pigeon series. Stories, crafts and activities will be available. Starting at 11 a.m., the library will feature their monthly programs of coloring stations for kids and adults, Legos, and a new release movie. The library will also feature chess boards and other programs that the library would like to promote.
The event itself will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature the drawing of the Summer Reading prizes at 12:30 p.m.
“We have had a lot of interest in the prizes and we are excited to send them to their forever home,” Long said. Participants don’t need to be in attendance to win.
Saturday will also be the last day for participants to turn in their reading logs to get any prizes that they may have earned over the summer.
