Community Counseling Center Launches Employment Placement Service In County

The Community Counseling Center has launched an employment service in Ste. Genevieve County and is seeking businesses to partner with in order to place workers.

Kara Burt, who has returned to work for the Community Counseling Center, this time in the role of employment specialist, is coordinating the program in Ste. Genevieve and Perry counties. She made a presentation on the program last Thursday at the quarterly Ste. Genevieve Chamber of Commerce business meeting.

Community Counseling Center has been offering the Individual Placement and Support Services employment program in Cape Girardeau County for about six years. …

The program helps with job searches, resume development, application process, benefits planning and coping skills. It also offers onging support as needed for the employee after he or she begins working.

“Part of my job is to be out in the community, talking with potential employers about what job openings they have, where they have high turnover,” Burt said. “It’s my job to make an appropriate match.”

Full-time and part-time jobs both are part of the program. Wages are paid by the employer.
