Public Hearing On Pere Marquette Park Priorities Draws No Comments

Although no members of the public showed up for a public hearing on July 22 to get input on potential capital improvements to Pere Marquette Park, the city of Ste. Genevieve Parks and Recreation Board did welcome a new member, change its monthly meeting date and time, and rehash some old business during its regular meeting that night.

The board voted to change its monthly meetings from 7 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month to 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday. Getting a quorum has been a challenge at times for the board.

The board also welcomed new member John Karel.

Karel, who served as director of Tower Grove Park for 27 years, brings plenty of related experience to the position. He has also restored the historic Lalumandiere House in Ste. Genevieve and was director of Missouri State Parks.
