Blunt Promotes Ste. Genevieve In Senate Floor Speech About Summer Activities In Missouri

Senator Roy Blunt made a brief pitch for Missouri destinations for the “end-the-summer, family-travel season” on August 1 during his allotted time for comments on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

His comments included mention of national parks in the state of Missouri and the newly-added Sainte Genevieve National Historical Park. He noted that some of the buildings in Ste. Genevieve date back to the 1700s.

“This is the first summer that there’s been a full-time park person there,” Blunt said, “but this park is just rising out of what that community has preserved so well for so long — a number of houses there that reflect that early French architecture along the Mississippi River.”

Blunt also made a pitch for the Missouri National Veterans Memorial with its full-size replica of the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C.

He closed with a mention of the recent renovations at the Gateway Arch National Park.
