Perfect Score Awarded For R-II School District’s Compliance With Individuals With Disabilities Education Act
The Ste. Genevieve R-II School District scored perfect “4” ratings in each category in the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) determination category for Section 616 of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
“DESE is annually reviewed by the federal government to make sure they are in compliance with Section 616 of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act,” Superintendent Dr. Julie Flieg explained to the Board of Education during the July 16 meeting. “DESE then goes through and evaluates each school district.”
The R-II district received perfect “4” scores on special education audit findings, timely/accurate data, graduation rate, dropout rate, assessment participation, assessment performance, disproportionality, initial evaluation timelines and secondary transition planning, for an overall determination score of 4.
“Four is the highest score you can receive,” Flieg said.
