Another Round Of Rain Further Sets Back Preparation Of Roads For Paving
Heavy rains last week did some damage to county roads, again diverting the county road crews’ attention from prepping and paving roads.
At last Thursday’s Ste. Genevieve County Commission meeting, road and bridge foreman Scott Schmieder said the July 17 rainstorm affected mainly roads in the west and south ends of the county while the July 16 rainstorm affected “all over, mainly on the hills.”
He also said the back end of Bodine Road suffered some damage where about two inches of rain fell in about 20 minutes.
Schmieder said his crews have been working off and on, prepping Madden Creek Road for paving, when possible.
On July 16, Womack Road, Boyd Road “and about every hill in the county” suffered some damage from a storm. Schmieder reported. On July 17, Salem School, Smith, Westover, White Oak and Buckholtz roads were damaged. He said Hager Road suffered “a little” damage, as well.
