County Commissioners Anxious To Get Started On Pedestrian Bridge Over Progress Parkway
The Ste. Genevieve County Commission would like to get moving on the planned pedestrian bridge over Progress Parkway.
Last Thursday, the Commission approved payment of a $7,087 invoice from Smith & Company Engineering of Poplar Bluff.
The commissioners had not had a chance to meet with engineer Jeremy Manning in recent weeks to go over plans for the bridge. Neither have they heard back from Mike Scott of the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) regarding the right-of-way.
Presiding Commissioner Garry Nelson said, “We need to get it put out for bids.”
The county was approved for a Transportation Alternative Project grant for the project in January. The walkway will connect the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center and Progress Sports Complex on the west side of the road with the new waterpark, allowing patrons to safely cross Progress Parkway.
The bridge and walking trail replacement, combined, was estimated at about $310,000.
