Mississippi River Slowly Receding

The Mississippi River had fallen below 40 feet for the first time on Saturday, June 29, and was hovering around the mark Sunday and into Monday morning. The water had receded nearly completely from Highway 61 just south of the levee south of the city of Ste. Genevieve.

The forecast from the National Weather Service was predicting that the river would fall below 35 feet early next week.
