BABYSITTING CLASS

Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital is again offering its yearly Babysitting Class on Monday, June 17. This one-day (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) competency-based program is for youths who have completed at least the sixth grade. It will cover such topics as infant care, first aid and handling emergency situations. Joan Flieg, a long-time educator, will facilitate the class and present needed information in a fun and interesting way. A $25 registration fee includes lunch and class materials. VOLUNTEER TRAINING

The Center for Life of Ste. Genevieve and Perryville will conduct a training from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 21, for those interested in learning more about serving as a volunteer. Community Event

FIRST RESPONDERS LUNCH

Wolk Insurance and Financial Services and MRV Banks invite all county firefighters, Sheriff’s Office and police employees, emergency medical personnel and hospital staff to be their guest for lunch in appreciation for their service to the community of Ste. Genevieve. Lunch will be served 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, at the Ste. Genevieve Fire Station, 550 Pine Drive.

DEMOCRATIC CLUB

The Ste. Genevieve County Democratic Club will host a guest speaker and discussion on Missouri healthcare at its next regular meeting. Dennis McDonald, Southeast Missouri regional organizer for Missouri Health Care for All, will make a brief presentation followed by a question-and-answer session at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, at the Steelworkers Union Hall, 950 S. Gabouri St. The club meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m., usually at the Steelworkers Union Hall.  All are welcome at monthly meetings. Bible School

GRACE BAPTIST

Grace Baptist Church, 10777 Tri Acre Lane, will have its Vacation Bible School program from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 17, through Friday, June 21. Participants will go to Babylon and live Daniel’s captivity. For information, call Debbie at 573-535-4650.

TRINITY BAPTIST

Trinity Baptist Church on Highway  61 in St. Mary is hosting “Jungle Adventure” Vacation Bible School for those in third through 12th grade. It will be 6 p.m. Sunday, June 23, through Thursday, June 27. There will be a kick-off party noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 22. For more information or a ride call 573-517-3363.

BARBECUE EVENT

The Ste. Genevieve Eagles Aerie 4336 barbecue for the Alzheimer’s Association will take place Saturday, June 15, at the Ace Hardware lot.

ALZHEIMER’S

Audubon’s Grill and Bar on Tuesday, June 18, will be hosting a community dinner to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Ten percent of proceeds from food and drink sales between 4 and 8 p.m. will be donated to the cause. Attendance prize and 50/50 raffle also will be part of the event.

Special Events

CAR CRUISE NIGHTS

The Ste. Gen. Gearheadz car club is organizing cruise nights in historic downtown Ste. Genevieve from the third Saturday in May through the third Saturday in October. Cruises will be from 5 to 9 p.m., and all cars, trucks and bikes are welcome. Event includes 50/50 drawing, entertainment and music. For more information, contact Brian at 573-883-6411. The next event is scheduled for Saturday, June 15.

ROAR AND POUR

Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary, 19620 Crown Ridge Road, will host a father’s day weekend event on Saturday, June 15. Barbecue, beverages, music and games. Tickets are $35 per person (free for ages 3 and under) and must be purchased in advance. For information, call 573-883-9909.
