State Rep. Wright Gets Look At Rising River During Visit To County

District 116 State Representative Dale Wright got to see the Mississippi River at its most powerful last Thursday, and he later met with Ste. Genevieve County officials to discuss various issues.

Wright met Sheriff Gary Stolzer at the Marina de Gabouri and took a boat tour of the swollen river and the levee system.

He expressed amazement at what he had seen when he arrived at the commission meeting.

“I have a new perspective for what’s going on here,” Wright said, adding that he had never been on the Mississippi River before.

The visit took place on a day when the river crest [on the gauge at Chester, Illinois] was just under 44 feet, with a predicted June 5 crest of 46 feet.
