Work On Parking Lot At Water Park Expected To Begin On June 7
Work is expected to begin on the parking lot for the Ste. Genevieve County Family Aquatic Center — also referred to as the River Rapids Water Park in Ste. Genevieve County Community Center brochures — on June 7.
The bid opening will be June 3 for the paving of the lot.
Vern Bauman Contracting is preparing the area for paving. The company will be using a satellite-GPS system to get it to finish grade. This will be necessary due to swales in the gravel for allowing water to seep through. The county will haul the rock in.
Pieces of water park equipment still sit in the area. The County Commission has informed Brockmiller Construction, the construction manager at risk for the project, that it has to be cleared in two weeks so the lot can be finished by the end of June. The commission would like to see work start shortly after the bid is awarded.
“The earlier the better,” Presiding Commissioner Garry Nelson said.
Concrete curbing is supposed to be finished by May 31.
