Tourism Tax Commission Approves Advertising Expenses At Brief Meeting

Ste. Genevieve Tourism Tax Commission members approved $2,335 in advertising expenses at a 10-minute meeting last week that was postponed 24 hours due to predictions of severe weather.

Scheduled for May 21, it was moved to May 22 as the forecast called for severe thunderstorms and hail the night of May 21 with the possibility of tornadoes.

When the commission did meet the following night, it went through business briskly.

Tourism director Sandra Cabot presented expenses for approval, including $660 for three months of search engine marketing through Madden Media and $470 for another two months of rack cards distribution, through CTM Media Group. The company delivers batches of the rack cards to motels, visitor centers and other locations along Interstate 55, as well as in Kansas City, Missouri; Belleville, Illinois; and other locations.

Additionally, “spring lead fulfillment” — following up on those who responded to ads in various publications and other outreaches — was included in the request. This entails sending printed material to those who expressed interest. It included $1,050 for postage and $155 for printing.
