County Seeks Bids For Paving Water Park Parking Lot

Letters will go out to potential bidders on the parking lot paving job for the water park at the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center, stressing that the job needs to start on or around June 3 and must be done no later than June 28.

The 92,000-square-foot parking lot will be north of the Ste. Genevieve County Family Aquatic Center, on the east side of Progress Parkway, between the water park and HSB Advisors property.

Thanks to a pedestrian bridge that will be built over Progress Parkway in the near future, the lot will also serve the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center and the Progress Sports Complex.

Likewise, overflow water park parking may utilize the lot adjacent to the Progress Sports Complex.

The Ste. Genevieve County Commission discussed the plans with community center director Brad Arnold and via phone with Colin Rogers of Brockmiller Construction during last Thursday’s commission meeting.

The commissioners made a few suggestions for changes in the initial plans. The plans currently call for a six-inch concrete curb to surround the entire parking lot. The commissioners feel it will not be needed all the way around. It should only be needed on the far east side, near the sidewalk, and in another spot or two.

Meanwhile, the two entrances and exits should be concrete, the commissioners said, rather than asphalt.
