City Of St. Mary Searching For New Legal Services Firm

The city of St. Mary has its police car back in service, but now it is hunting for a new legal firm to provide services as city attorney and prosecuting attorney.

Duke Nguyen of the law firm Breeze, Elpers and & Nguyen had been serving in both roles since Frank Elpers passed away in January 2018 and had just been re-appointed by Mayor Gloria Bader at the April 11 Board of Aldermen meeting.

City clerk David Woods reported last week that Nguyen had prepared a letter of resignation but then didn’t turn it in because it had “bleedthrough errors.”

Woods said the city would be receiving a price list from Wegmann Law Firm, a Jefferson County firm which now provides services as the city attorney for Ste. Genevieve and Bloomsdale. Wegmann’s Mark Bishop attends the city of Ste. Genevieve meetings regularly. Woods said the city also has an “old quote” from Ludwig and Boner Law Firm of Jackson, Missouri.
