Ste. Gen.-Modoc Ferry Has Not Seen Much Action So Far This Year

It is possible by the end of May that the Ste. Genevieve-Modoc Ferry will have run only about five days through the first five months of this year.

Ron Inman, chairman of the New Bourbon Regional Port Authority board, reported on April 24 that the ferry had run three days in March, after not running at all in February and probably not running at all in April.

“Looks like its going to be zero days in April,” Inman said, in giving the ferry report at the monthly board meeting.

He said the ferry barge has been undergoing painting recently. So far, though, funding for the work is being denied by the federal government. …

With the river still above flood stage, Inman said he doubted if the ferry would be able to operate more than a couple of days in May.

For March, it took in $990 in its three days of operation, with $12,345 in expenses, for a net loss of $11,355.
