Two Of Ste. Genevieve’s Three New Aldermen Sworn In

Two new members of the Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen were sworn in last Thursday night, along with Mayor Paul Hassler and re-elected Ward 2 Alderman Michael “Buck” Jokerst.

Taking office for the first time were Ward 1 Alderwoman Susie Johnson and Ward 4 Alderman Bryant Wolfin.

Mike Raney will be sworn in at the April 25 meeting as new Ward 3 alderman. It had originally been thought he could be sworn in last week after Jack Rozier was sworn in earlier in the week, then submitted a letter of resignation due to health issues. To meet all pertinent statutes, however, Raney had to wait one meeting. Rozier was counted as absent in the meeting’s roll call and votes.

Randy Ruzicka, outgoing Ward 4 alderman, was the only outgoing alderman to attend the opening part of the meeting. John Mooney (Ward 1) and Donnie Stuppy (Ward 3) did not attend.

The new members were informed that work sessions will be forthcoming this spring on both the budget and the report by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on its flood mitigation and recreation plan.
