LaVerne M. Jokerst
LaVerne M. Jokerst of Ste. Genevieve died on Sunday, April 7, 2019, at The Arbors at Parkwood Meadows in Ste. Genevieve. She was 80 years old.
She was born April 18, 1938, in Ste. Genevieve, a daughter of John A. Bahr and Mary Rosa (Valle) Bahr.
She was married to Jonas W. Jokerst on February 7, 1959, and he survives in Ste. Genevieve.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Vicky Hermann and her husband Gerald of Bloomsdale, Becky Fleischmann and her husband Edward of Arnold, Tina Bader and her husband Gary of Ste. Genevieve; two sons, Rodney Jokerst and his wife Paula of Lake Zurich, Illinois, Eric Jokerst and his wife Michelle of Ste. Genevieve; 17 grandchildren, Jill Hertlein and her husband Jason, Kelly Clark and her husband Austin, Maria Hermann; E.J. Fleischmann, Tricia Fleischmann, Nikki Fleischmann, Angella Miles, Andrew Bader, Katie Bader, Caroline Jokerst, Abby Jokerst, Natalie Jokerst, William Jokerst, Emma Jokerst, Brooke Jokerst, Lydia Jokerst, Owen Jokerst; and four great-grandchildren, Nathan Hertlein, Autumn Clark; Adriana Miles, Aaliyah Miles.
In addition ot her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Bahr and his wife Vernetta; three infant brothers; and one sister, Marie Huber and her husband Oscar.
She was a member of the Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary/Partners, past Ladies Sodality member, Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church Prayer Chain member, and a volunteer at the Adoration Chapel. She donated much of her time to the housekeeping of the Church of Ste. Genevieve.
She enjoyed cooking, quilting and spending time with her family. After her retirement she loved being with her friends and meeting them for morning coffee.
Funeral services were Friday, April 12, at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. Rev. Larry Huber officiated. Burial was at Valle Spring Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve. Basler Funeral Home of Ste. Genevieve handled the arrangements.
