McDaniel, Rudloff Re-Elected To R-II School Board

Veteran board members Terry McDaniel and Richard “Itchy” Rudloff were returned to the Ste. Genevieve R-II School District Board of Education by voters on April 2.

The two incumbents defeated challenger Larry Pfaff for the two open seats in a rematch of the 2013 election with the same result.

McDaniel, who has served 18 years on the board, received 805 votes [37.6 percent]. Rudloff, who has served six years, received 669 votes [31.3 percent].

Pfaff was third with 646 votes, just 23 votes behind Rudloff. He received 30.2 percent of the votes.

Pfaff finished first in Bloomsdale and New Offenburg precincts and topped Rudloff in Kinsey and Zell precincts.

Rudloff made up the difference by outdistancing Pfaff 183-150 in Ste. Genevieve South and 42-26 in St. Mary.

In voting at the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center, all three candidates received 44 votes.

Both winners expressed pride in the condition of the school district, both educationally and fiscally.

“I feel good about where we are,” McDaniel said. “You’re always looking to make yourself better.”

“I think the district is in very good shape,” Rudloff said. “People in the past who were in charge have laid the groundwork for what we’ve got today, and we have to  maintain and be ever-vigilant to keep it a good district, which I think it is right now.”
