Fourth Annual Taste Of Ste. Genevieve Slated For Saturday
The fourth annual Taste of Ste. Genevieve will provide an evening of delectable food and beverages from some of Ste. Genevieve and the surrounding area’s restaurants, breweries and wineries.
The event is set for 6 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday (March 30) at the Progress Sports Complex on the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center campus.
The event, hosted by The Friends Foundation of Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH), will benefit the hospital’s women’s health and childbirth department.
“Everyone can satisfy all of their senses in one event,” said Holli Ledbetter, Friends Foundation director. “This year’s Taste offers a whole host of local restaurants waiting to dish out their finest. Spend an evening sipping wine or a microbrew while sampling some tasty food morsels or a decadent dessert.
“This is our fourth year for the event and we keep growing, which is why we’re glad the larger gym at the Progress Sports Complex next to the community center was available for our event.”
The event also will feature silent and oral auctions.
“This is a fundraising event, so we have a variety of items for every bidder’s comfort level,” Ledbetter said. “Some people are interested in the experience of the food and beverage tasting, while other people really partake in the auctions.
“Our live auction will have some bigger items, but the silent auction has something for everyone in every price range.”
A few of the oral auction items include an authentic leather Harley-Davidson jacket, a round of golf with the SGCMH CEO Tom Keim; a Kate Spade tote; a Home Smart system; patio set; and smoker. Silent auction items include themed baskets for every interest; jewelry, purses, sports items, home décor and many unique items.
In addition to the auction, the event will again have a “cork pull.”
“This is one of the most fun parts of the whole experience,” said Ledbetter. “We’ll sell corks for $10 with numbers on them that correlate to a special bottle of wine or liquor. You never know what you’re going to get. Everyone walks away a winner, so cheers to that.”
This year’s emcee will be classic rock KBDZ personality Todd Blackstock.
New this year will be live music by singer/guitarist Jordan Voss. The talented musician also is a surgical technician in the hospital’s operating room department.
Sponsors for this year’s event include Bloomsdale Bank; Crown Valley Brewery/Winery; Equipment Pro; Holcim; HSB Advisors; Lewsi Winery; McGrath and Associates; SGCMH Medical Staff; Mississippi Lime; Oberle Meats; Richardet Floor Covering; Rob Walsh, MBA, MS, Ph.D, CRNA; Ste. Genevieve Welcome Center; Tower Rock Stone; Water Tower Winery; Bahr Signs; KBDZ Radio; Midwest Marketing; Ste. Genevieve County Community Center; Ste. Genevieve Herald; and Wolk’s Insurance.
