Yvonne Johnson

Yvonne M. (Smith) Johnson of Ste. Genevieve and formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, in Ste. Genevieve. She was 82 years old.

She was born August 14, 1936 in St. Louis.

She is survived by four daughters, Deborah Nagel and her husband Kevin of St. Charles, Missouri, Rebecca McLaughlin and her husband Bruce of Highland, Illinois, Brenda Lehr and her husband Steve of Albers, Illinois, Joy Kamp and her husband Don of Ste. Genevieve; 13 grandchildren, Wendy and her husband Chris, Ashley and her husband Mark, Laurie and her husband Duane, Colin and his wife Lauren, Ian and his wife Ashley, Kara and her husband Bobby, Kristopher, Chelsea and her husband Jacob, Cindy, Jessica and her husband Craig, Greg and his wife Tiffany, Haley and her husband Daniel, Aubrey; 22 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leaton W. Johnson Jr.; her parents, Arthur and Beulah (Jackson) Smith; a  daughter, Sandra Etchason; three grandsons, Craig Lehr, Scott Etchason, Denny Etchason; and three brothers.

She also was a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

She was a member of Cahokia Park United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church of Ste. Genevieve, the United Methodist Women and the Metro East Community Chorale.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Braun Family Funeral Home in Columbia, Illinois. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 4, at Braun Family Funeral Home. Rev. John Annable will officiate. Entombment will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, Illinois. Braun Family Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Mercy Jefferson Hospice.
