Polar Plunge Set For March 2

Ste. Genevieve High School’s FRIENDS organization will host the second annual Ste. Genevieve County Polar Plunge at Lake Forest Estates Marina on Saturday, March 2.

The event will begin at noon, with participants taking the “plunge” at 2 p.m.

The event is co-sponsored by the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center and raises money for local Special Olympic athletes to participate in the Missouri State Special Olympic Track Meet at Missouri State University. Last year the plunge raised more than $15,000 and covered 100 percent of transportation, lodging, uniforms, and registration costs for the athletes, parents, coaches, and “buddies” for the event.

Saints Til Friday will provide a sound system/DJ booth. Scooter Burgers will serve food, and there will be tours of emergency vehicles available for kids.

Heated changing tents will be supplied by Cotton’s Ace Hardware and will be available for all participants.

Those interested in participating, sponsoring, or contributing to this event can contact Kyle Schweiss at krschweiss@sgdragons.org or Kristi Cleghorn at kcleghorn@sgdragons.org.
