Despite Recent Run Of Wet Weather, Water Park Construction Still On Pace For Late May
An abundance of water from Mother Nature is slowing down the construction of the county’s water park.
Brad Arnold, director of the Ste. Genevieve County Community Center, said there have been “47 weather days — and counting” — that have affected Brockmiller Construction in its work on the Ste. Genevieve County Family Aquatic Center.
Still, the project is on pace to be open for Memorial Day weekend.
The center will be located just across Progress Parkway from the community center campus and will include a children’s wading pool, a lap pool, a lazy river and multiple water slides among its offerings.
“As you all know,” Arnold said during last week’s Community Services Forum meeting, “it was a wet summer, a wet fall and it’s pretty much been a wet winter. They’re doing everything they can to complete the project on time so we can open Memorial Day weekend this year.
“It’s going to be real close at this point. We had a nice, healthy, two-month cushion before we started the project that has closed very quickly.”
