Wet Weather Brings Delay To Culvert Pipe Installation

Rainy weather much of the week and storms last Thursday morning kept the Ste. Genevieve County road and bridge department from getting culvert pipes installed, but the bad weather did no real damage to roads.

Road and bridge foreman Scott Schmieder said last Thursday that the county had gotten off lucky, considering the snow, rain and high winds during the week. He said that there had been no major road damage.

“Nothing washed out or anything,” he said. “We’re in good shape.”

The bad weather has kept the crews from continuing its pipe replacement, though.

“We’re not putting pipes in or anything this week,” Schmieder said. “It’s raining and muddy. We’re just trying to haul rock on the roads.”
