Five Elected To Ste. Gen. County Extension Council In Last Month’s Election

Five Ste. Genevieve County residents were successful in their bid for election to the Ste. Genevieve County Extension Council last month.

Elected were Micheal J. Naeger, Eric Kertz, Emily Giesler, Donna Flieg, and Dana Fallert.

Council elections took placeduring the week of January 16 to January 23 with ballot boxes available at the Extension office in Progress Sports Complex, Bloomsdale Bank in Bloomsdale, First State Community Bank in St. Mary, and the Ste. Genevieve Herald office on Market St. Voting also could be done online or by mail.

All new council members will be sworn in by Ste. Genevieve County Clerk Sue Wolk at the council’s annual meeting on February 28.

The two-year term of office begin March 1.

County extension councils, in accordance with state law, work with University of Missouri Extension faculty and staff in planning and carrying out local extension programs.

The council has three primary responsibilities: assist in planning and carrying out extension programs in their county; oversee the finances; and recruit and train council members.  

The University of Missouri Extension provides research-based educational programs, assistance and resources that address subjects of interest to Missourians in the fields of agriculture; business development; community development; food and nutrition; and youth development (4-H).
