Valle’s Bauman Receives Dr. Martin Luther King Award
Alivia Bauman, daughter of Todd and and Connie Bauman, was selected as the 2019 Dr. Martin Luther King Model of Justice winner from Valle Catholic.
Most Rev. Robert Carlson, archbishop of St. Louis, celebrated Mass at the Cathedral Basilica for the preservation of peace and justice on January 20. Rev. Arthur Cavitt, executive director of the Archdiocese of St. Louis’ St. Charles Lwanga Center, delivered the homily.
A reception and awards presentation ceremony for the 12th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Model of Justice honorees took place in Boland Hall after Mass.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Model of Justice Award is presented annually to Catholic high school students who have demonstrated a commitment to service to humanity through their attitude and their work in the broader community. These students have made justice a central part of their lives and have committed themselves “to the noble struggle for equal rights.”
