89th Annual Soils, Crops Conference Slated For February 21
The University of Missouri Extension’s 89th annual Soils and Crops Conference for Ste. Genevieve County will be Thursday evening, February 21, at the VFW Hall.
Doors open to the public at 5:30 p.m.
Cooperator of the Year will be awarded beginning at 6 p.m.
The featured presentation will be “Dicamba Injury & the Role of Insurance.”
Herbicide injury risk management requires active oversight of crop and liability insurance policies. Federal crop insurance does not cover losses due to pesticide injury but has made provisions for protecting farmers’ Actual Production History (APH). Various provisions in general business and professional liability insurance contracts may affect whether or not insurance companies cover losses due to herbicide injury.
The topic will be presented by Ray Massey, extension professor in agricultural and applied economics at the University of Missouri.
Those attending the conference will enjoy a dinner sponsored by area businesses and prepared by the Ste. Genevieve VFW Hall.
RSVP to the University of Missouri Extension Office at 573-883-3548 or stegenevieveco@missouri.edu by Friday, February 15 to ensure a meal.
