Election Filings Winding Down; Four Vying For Two County Health Board Spots

The filing deadline for candidates for the April 2 ballot was to close on Tuesday, January 15, after the Herald went to press for this week’s edition.

Last week brought two additional filings for the Ste. Genevieve County Health Department board, which means — at least as of Friday — four candidates were seeking two seats on the board. Jim Brumfield and Brad Korn filed last week, joining Robert Kavaliauskas and Jeanette Wood in the field.

The current officeholders are Wood, who was appointed last month to succeed Susie Bach, and Lisa Jokerst.

Additionally, the remaining two years on another seat is up for grabs this year, following the November resignation of board member David Woods. As of Friday, only Carl Kinsky, who was appointed to succeed Woods effective this month, has filed.

The city of Ste. Genevieve’s Ward 2 also has a crowded field, as Gretchen Wolf filed last week to run against incumbent Michael “Buck” Jokerst and challenger Marsha Akins.

More coverage later this week after the filing deadline.
