Digital Sign Proposed For Highway 61 Denied After Citizens Speak Out

A large crowd watched the Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen debate two issues during public hearings early in their 2 1/2-hour meeting last Thursday.

The board voted 6-1 to deny allowing Robinson Outdoors LLC to erect a V-shaped double-sided LED digital billboard on 716 Ste. Genevieve Drive.

It voted 6-1 in favor of allowing Kassie and Aaron Wolk to operate an in-home hair salon at 1045 Westwood.

The Planning and Zoning Commission had approved both requests at a meeting earlier this month.

The board also voted to accept the Planning and Zoning Commission’s recommendation to deny Michael and Jenna Mills’ request to install a digital LED sign at 181 Washington Street, where they intend to move their Buddy’s Place restaurant.

Michael Mills, who was present, said he will appeal the Planning and Zoning denial.

His appeal will be heard at the Thursday, January 24, Board of Aldermen meeting.
